After leaving NCIS at the end of the 15th season, on her terms and without many details about her sudden exit, Pauley Perrette who played the lovable and smart Aby Sciutto on the show is giving us one exclusive interview. She hasn’t talked much since her departure. Elected the American favorite actress many times, she gives us some updates about her actual life far away from the acting world. Strong but sensitive, she wants to remain true to her journey as a human being and considers herself as a retired actress with many other goals to be fulfilled.

On a personal level, what did you discover about yourself not being all year in front of a camera since a couple months?

Pauley Perrette: It has been quite different. Very freeing. I can do whatever I want and I answer to no one except God.

Are you really retiring from acting or it’s just a pause?

P.P. :No one knows what tomorrow will bring ,but I  am very happy spending time with my dogs and my friends and not performing or being watched all the time.

This career in Hollywood as an actress is very much part of your life. Do you feel it has fulfilled and enriched you or there were also some downs that you were a bit tired of ?

P.P. :I am very grateful for the blessings I have been given by my career. I met some amazing people and did amazing things. I traveled the world. I certainly made a lot of money and I will always be thankful. There also was a huge part of being an actor that was very therapeutic for me. It was an escape. When I am playing a character, all of my personal problems are put on hold, they don’t exist. It is like a drug, escaping reality. I really needed that when I was younger. Lately, I’ve really enjoyed just being me.

You were elected the most popular actress on Television many times. What does that still represent in your heart?

P.P. :I was dedicated to doing my job well, making sure I worked my best to earn the money I was being paid and to make my employers and fans proud. When I was consistently named most popular actress ,I felt like I was giving my fans my best and that’s what they deserved.

Are you still in touch with your fan base and is it very important for you as for them?

P.P. :I am. I have made true friends from many of my fans, people I really like and am in touch with often. There are those who understand who I am and what is important tome aside from being an actor; charity, animals, social justice, God and just being a good human.

You recently dyed your hair in rainbow color, how came up this idea and what does it represent for you?

P.P. :Having been under contracts my whole adult life, as a model, an actress and record contracts, it is the first time in along time that I can really do anything I want. So I made my hair a rainbow. It’s so pretty to me and it makes me very happy. Also, I don’t get recognized as much because people get distracted by my hair.

Do you still watch some episodes from NCIS? Could you come back at all for a couple episodes?

P.P. :No and No.

Are you still in touch with some of your colleagues from the show?

P.P. :I made lifelong friends on NCIS that I adore and will always be in touch with. Not a week goes by without talking to one of them.
And many members of the crew as well as actors.
People I truly love and am blessed to know.

Is there a new tv show that you are particularly fond of and that you would love to participate in?

P.P. :I really only watch nonfiction. I love Dateline and 48 hours. I don’t really watch any movies unless they are documentaries.

One funny habit you have that nobody knows and that we would be surprised about that you can share with us ?

P.P. :I love to sit quietly with just my rescue dogs .I love to just hear them breathe. I play the card game Solitaire hundreds of times every day. I like to be alone all the time.

Animals are a big part of your life. What do they bring you that human beings don’t?

P.P. :Since my earliest memory I just wanted to be around animals ,I still do. People often frighten me. I get along so well with animals and I love them so much. I was so blessed to know Betty White. We worked with many animal groups together. We felt the same about animals. From the moment I met her I knew I had found a kindred spirit. She was a great role model for me.

Projects for 2022?

P.P. :Breathing, laughing and sleeping.

When you look back at Pauley as a kid, are you very different or do you feel the essence of your personality is still the same?

P.P. :I was always a very sensitive and empathic child and am the same as an adult. I can’t handle cruelty in any form, from physically harming an animal or a person to even the use of hurtful language towards anyone. I am often so confused and saddened by the way people treat one another. That’s probably why I like to be alone with just dogs all the time.
